The Philadelphia Phillies officially announced the acquisition of RHP Michael Lorenzen from the Detroit Tigers Tuesday afternoon, less than an hour before the 6 p.m. ET trade deadline.

To make room for Lorenzen on the 40-man roster, the club has designated utility man Josh Harrison for assignment, likely bring an end to the 36-year-old’s time with the Phillies.

Harrison was a non-roster invitee to Spring Training for the Phillies in 2020, but didn’t ultimately make the team. But after stints with the Washington Nationals, Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox, the Phillies signed Harrison to a one-year/$2 million deal this offseason in an attempt to bolster their bench.

Ultimately, Harrison never got on his feet with the Phillies, slashing .204/.263/.291 with two home runs, 10 RBIs and a .554 OPS in 40 games with the team. It’s unclear what the future holds for the 13-year veteran.
